Terry Tanner is a Texas-based country singer-songwriter whose music is built on real life, hard miles, faith, family, and the stories that stay with you.
Originally from Missouri, Tanner first headed to Nashville as a young man, spending nearly a decade chasing the dream of writing and performing country music. Life eventually took him in another direction. Following 9/11, he returned to military service and went on to complete more than 20 years in the U.S. Army.
But the songs never left.
Today, Tanner brings a lifetime of experience back to the music he was always meant to make. His songs range from straight-ahead Texas country and traditional storytelling to deeply personal songs about veterans, faith, love, loss, family, and the lessons learned along the way. His weathered baritone and conversational writing style reflect an artist more interested in telling the truth than chasing trends.
Songs such as “Prayin’ to Remember, Drinkin’ to Forget” draw from the weight carried by veterans long after the uniform comes off, while “Just Outside of Dallas” leans into the timeless country tradition of heartbreak, highways, and trying to leave behind something the heart isn’t ready to let go.
After years spent living the stories, Terry Tanner is writing them down — one song at a time.
